Abstract

|
The auther of this paper, in his previous study of hysteria in Korean urban societies, has stated that hysteria is abundant in Korea in comparison to the West. Several other worker´s studies since then have confirmed this finding.
In this paper, the author furthur elaborated on etiological considerations as to why there is more hysteria in Korea. His finding was that Korean cultural characteristics, rather than psychoanalitic explanations involving sexual repression, better explain the manifestations of many Korean hysteria patients.
